Ok, so this is how it happened. I was walking around the Historic District of Galveston and we crossed paths at an intersection. I don't usually converse with strangers but as I was walking away, he asked me for money. So I answered in an unusual way (especially for me). I told him I would give him $5 but I wanted to take a picture of him. Fair enough, right? Well, he thought about it...and we walked a block...and he asked me why...and we walked another block. I was thinking this guy wasn't going to go for it...and it's $5. Jeez, I'd let anyone take my mugshot for $5, no problem. Any takers out there? But I didn't give him a hard time. I wanted him to figure it out on his own. Of course while he was thinking, it was killing me. I was thinking I'd ruined a great chance to take another portrait. In the end, he needed the money. Even if he'd said 'no, I don't want you to take my picture', I would have given him the money anyway. Remember my August 24th post? Someone else always has it worse. ALWAYS.

This is James, or as his friends call him, Old School.

Peace+Love
